Join us for the 7th National Catholic Singles Conference in Chicago!

Don't have anything going on Valentine's Day? Come and hear top Catholic speakers discuss the issues affecting singles in today's world. How do I improve my relationships with friends, family and my future spouse? How do I discern what else God wants for my life in the future and what can I do to live a happier, more fulfilled single life now?

The conference falls on President's Day weekend as well, so stay a day after and visit the Shedd Aquarium, The Art Institute of Chicago, Sears Tower, Navy Pier, Millenium Park or just relax with friends. As usual we will also have optional social events scheduled after the conference on Sunday afternoon. (Great news: We've been able to reduce the registration cost this year by holding it at a parish with a hotel nearby.) It's coming up quickly and space is limited so register now!

Spirit & Truth is for young adults in their 20s and 30s —single or married—who would like to grow in their Catholic faith in fellowship with their peers. There are 5 Spirit & Truth communities throughout the Diocese of Rockford and Joliet, with 2 beginning to form in the Archdiocese of Chicago.

Fox Valley Spirit & Truth will meet every Monday night in Holy Cross Catholic Church, Batavia at 7:00 PM for spiritual formation, Eucharistic Adoration and fellowship. There is no commitment to join anything. You may just come when you are available! We also have an open gym monthly at the parish for volleyball/basketball.

The 2008 Spring/Summer Softball League has concluded. The championship was earned by the Angels!

Registration is now being accepted for the Fall Volleyball League. We will be playing games starting Sept. 8 through Dec. 15 from 8-10 p.m. at St. Thomas of Villanova Church in Palatine. Extreme Makeover : Faith Edition

A family has been chosen for the Extreme Makeover : Faith Edition project! The Gautille Family was chosen. There are currently three fundraising events planned to raise funds for the projects:

Colonial Cafe fundraiser at the East side Colonial in St. Charles: Mention that you're there for the Extreme Makeover project at the register and a portion of the total purchases that night will go towards the project! The event is being held at the East Side Colonial Cafe on 64 on July 17th from 4:30pm - close. Hope to see you there!

Car Wash: Saturday, July 26th from 3-5:30 & Sunday, July 27th from 8-1. Location to be announced.

Pancake Breakfast: August 3rd from 8am-noon at the Crane Road Church

Again, an old favorite. I know it's Memorial Day weekend, but I already had something planned for June which if you keep reading you'll learn about. Anyway, they only had Memorial Day weekend open. It's also youth weekend, just as an FYI. You'll need to wear close toed shoes, and clothes appropriate to work in. Again, I need an RSVP on this one so we can let them know just how many people they will be providing work for. The food bank is located off of industrial drive on the east side of St. Charles. Take 64 to Dunham and turn right. Follow that until it dead ends in a parking lot. The warehouse on your left is the food bank.

Some of the Kindelins and I did this last summer. It was great fun. It only costs $20 for the whole season. All ability levels are welcome. It's a co-ed league 14" balls. Games are played at Chino Field in Hoffman Estates, I know it's kind of far, but it was worth the drive. Fill out the paperwork and take it with you the first day. Opportunites with the Community of St. John

Young Adult Retreat from May 12-15 (last year 35 young adults came and loved it!) in Princeville, IL. It is a great blend of formation, prayer, fun, free time, and new friends, in a monastic setting. As in all Eagle Eye activities, you live the life of prayer of the Brothers, including daily Mass, Holy Hour, and the Offices, with classes in Philosophy and Theology (which everyone loves, because they are designed to stimulate reflection and discussion), free time, fun activities, and nightly campfires. Please register before May 7th!

From June 21st to June 29th, we will be offering a full-fledged Eagle Eye Summer Institute for Young Adults. This is an 8-day Institute similar to what are offered across the country for young people (see the website for information on the Institutes in North Dakota and Virginia). Two days of wilderness (canoeing probably this year), followed by a five day Quest for the Truth in Philosophy and Theology, including an Outdoor Stations of the Cross (by torchlight!), All-Night Adoration, and fun outings. It is the perfect way to go as deep and as far as you want to go in your Faith, and make great friends along the way! Back by popular request is the Young Adult Silent Retreat on the Gospel of St. John. Come into the silence of God from Wednesday through Sunday with preached retreat conferences, afternoons of Adoration, offices with the Brothers and Sisters, and plenty of time for quiet and rest in the Lord. This year will be truly silent -- with a farewell gathering only on the last day. Please contact Father Nathan to register at brudernathan@yahoo.com. before July 1st.

We are also offering a (New!) Summer Service Session: The Ora et Labora Session. This session is a great way to "go deeper" and really allow the Lord to work in us. Join in the Community's daily prayer, receive 2 hours of intellectual formation per day, and help the Brothers in a monastic work project -- we need to stain the wood on the outer walls of our entire Priory! After morning prayer, we will work staining in the cool of the morning, before having a quiet afternoon with time for Adoration, and formation in the evenings, followed by cookouts, and fun with the other volunteers coming in to help us. Finally, starting on September 6th, we will begin our second year of the Eagle Eye School of Evangelization, for young adults who desire to give a year of their lives to the Lord with the Community of St. John, without any pretense to religious life (although it certainly would help anyone to discern!). The young adults will live in a little community (4 men and 4 women), share in the prayer life of the Brothers and Sisters, be able to attend our Philosophy and Theology classes (15 hours a week), and serve the Church by joingin the Brothers in a variety of apostolates and ministries, including confirmation retreats, high school retreats, book publishing, volunteer service opportunities, organizing a Youth Festival, and much more! We don't have a large window of clean-up because a speaker needs to have Fr. Dempsey Hall by 6:30. I know clean-up isn't everyone's favorite, but that's probably where we need the most help.
